Heila delivers custom built cranes for Multi-role Aviation Training Vessel
Waalwijk, August 2017 – Heila Cranes supplied Lloyd’s Register certified cranes, a HLRM 65-6S and a HLRM 45-5SL, to Damen Shipyards Group, both intended for the MV Sycamore, a Multi-role Aviation Training Vessel (MATV) built to provide services to the Royal Australian Navy. The Final Delivery and Acceptance recently took place in Sydney. Heila Cranes and its Australian service partner, RGM Maintenance, were present at this occasion.
The MV Sycamore’s primary task is to provide a training platform for helicopter and unmanned aerial vehicle related operations. The 94-metre long vessel, based on Damen’s OPV 2300 design, is also designed as a training platform for torpedo and mine recovery operations, the support of diving operations, and for navigation training. The project required tailor-made cranes for the MATV. Giampiero Traetta, CEO of Heila Cranes: “We have been supplying cranes to Damen Shipyards Group for the last 25 years. The company knows we are proficient in customized projects. We distinguish ourselves by designing and constructing custom-made marine cranes that perfectly match our customers’ requirements.”
Roland Briene, Area Director Asia Pacific at Damen Shipyards Group: “We have an existing relationship with Heila Cranes. Many tugs, workboats and navy vessels are fitted with Heila cranes. Heila cranes have also been installed on many of the vessels we delivered in and around Australia. The company has a globally respected reputation and, like us, it aims to achieve 100% customer satisfaction. Excellent service is equally important.”
With RGM Maintenance as Heila’s successful service partner in Australia, customers can be assured of outstanding service and the maximisation of Australian participation for the through-life support. Greg Jackson of RGM Maintenance: “In addition to quality products, Heila Cranes also provides a high level of service. We aim to achieve the same goal: excellent, fast, and efficient service for our customers. Damen Shipyards Group can be assured that RGM Maintenance is the right service partner in Australia.”
The MATV achieved Final Acceptance and was accepted on 29 July 2017, nearly 3 months ahead of schedule.
